Malaysian have a tendency of coining new terms from our local languages, which then spreads like wildfire. Among the latest terms that has gone viral and is used widely is ‘oyen‘, which comes from the word ‘oren’ or ‘orange’, referring to orange cats.
Now, this word has not only taken Malaysia by storm but is now making its way to the United States (US)!
Instagram page, @president_republic_oyen, took to their profile to showcase netizen, @then8tivedogfather, calling his orange cat ‘oyen‘.
They wrote, “Oyen has gained worldwide fame, even white people know about you. I am sure you will become more famous soon”.
In the video, @then8tivedogfather could be seen sitting on his porch in the Nashville, US, with his dogs when he spots an ‘oyen‘
“Oh sh*t guys, I spotted the ‘oyen‘. In Malaysia, they call this the ‘oyen‘. The gangster cat. The naughty cat,” he said as he zoomed into an orange cat hanging out by a tree nearby.
He then calls the cat over, calling it by its name, Harper, leading it to quickly run over to him for some head scratches.
