the Curve–a choice leisure destination in Petaling Jaya that has pioneered several innovations and concepts including the country’s first pedestrianised mall–recently emerged as the winner of the Petaling Jaya Child Friendly City Excellence Award Winner 2024 – Commercial Category. This prestigious recognition was presented by the Mayor of Petaling Jaya, Haji Mohamad Zahri bin Haji Samingon of Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) to recognise and celebrate organisations and spaces that champion child-friendly principles, fostering inclusivity, safety, and engagement for children and families alike.

This award is a key initiative under MBPJ’s efforts to maintain Petaling Jaya’s status as Malaysia’s first city recognised by UNICEF as a Child-Friendly City, a global initiative that acknowledges urban spaces that place children’s well-being, rights, and development at the heart of their urban planning and community services.

“This recognition reaffirms our mission to create a vibrant, family-centric environment that caters to the diverse needs of our visitors. As a neighbourhood mall, we understand that family life plays a vital part in every community, and we make it part of our mission to enrich the lives of families and foster a sense of belonging in Petaling Jaya,” said En. Jazmi Kamarudin, Chief Operations Officer of Boustead Properties Berhad.

Approximately 11% of the Curve’s Net Lettable Area (NLA) is dedicated to children-focused tenants, offering a wide range of retail outlets, entertainment, and learning centres for toddlers, young children, and teens.

The Curve’s distinct personality blends a warm, community-centric environment with modern sophistication. Its wide canopied walkways, al-fresco dining courtyards, and spacious design allow families to relax and explore effortlessly. From specialised children’s retail outlets like Mothercare, Babyshop, Anta Kids, and Cotton On Kids to entertainment hubs such as Moonbug Cocomelon Playground, The Little Gym, and Wan To Play, the Curve continues to set the standard as a child-friendly shopping destination.

Safety and accessibility are integral to the Curve’s design and operations. Families enjoy peace of mind with clear signage to family-friendly facilities, anti-slip flooring, as well as stroller- and wheelchair-friendly pathways. Additionally, dedicated parking spaces for families, female drivers, and persons with disabilities are strategically located near elevators and patrolled by Security personnel.

The mall also features baby care rooms equipped with clean changing stations, private nursing areas, and feeding preparation tools, offering parents a stress-free environment to care for their little ones.

The Curve Family Amenties

the Curve is a vibrant hub where families can bond and create cherished memories, offering a variety of family-friendly experiences such as the Merdeka Food Run, Slide the Curve, pizza-making workshops with Italiannies, arts and crafts sessions, and drawing classes for children with autism. To kick off the year end celebrations, the Curve will be celebrating the Gift of Joy Christmas campaign followed with the 20th Anniversary New Year Eve Countdown party on 31st December 2024 to deliver unforgettable experiences to the community.

The Curve Family Activities

In line with its goal of being a convenient lifestyle destination, the Curve offers seamless connectivity to nearby public transport, including covered walkways to the MRT, a buggy service, and user-friendly digital directories. These initiatives ensure that every visit is hassle-free and enjoyable, further solidifying the Curve’s position as a trusted neighbourhood hub.

By continuously innovating and expanding its offerings, the Curve remains dedicated to redefining the shopping mall experience, providing a vibrant, inclusive, and family-friendly space for generations to come. For more information, visit the Curve’s website.
