2 popular transgender personalities and beauty queens went viral in Thailand recently after they both took to their respective social media accounts showing that they had registered for military service in the country.

The 2 gorgeous transgender beauty queens, Parida Kerayuphan and Kantong Passarapon, both aged 21, were present at a military recruitment centre in Kaset Wai, Thailand earlier this month to sign up for the country’s annual recruitment lottery.

For reference, under Thailand’s 1954 Military Service Act, all Thai men are obligated for service at the age of 21, with a possible 2-year service term if selected.

As reported by SCMP, if the number of people who registered exceeds the available slots, they are selected by drawing lots, with eligible recruits having to pick cards from opaque boxes on conscription day to determine whether they are enlisted.

In Thailand, transgender people can apply for exemption from military service should they be able to provide relevant certificates.

Both Kerayuphan and Passarapon actually rejected military service but still had to report to the conscription unit. This is because it’s still mandatory to report even though you refused military service, as not turning up for military service selection in the draft can be punished with up to 3 years in jail.

However, both transgender personalities are expected to be allowed exemption from military service.

Both transgender personalities have huge followings in Thailand

Dubbed the “Thai Bay Angel”, Passarapon has participated in around 100 beauty pageants and won championship titles.

Meanwhile, Kerayuphan is a student at Sripatum University in the Thai capital of Bangkok. She’s a campus ambassador due to her attractive appearance.

In their respective social media posts, fans of both transgender personalities gave them words of encouragement and praised them for turning up to the military service draft.

So, what do you guys think of the 2 gorgeous transgender personalities reporting to the conscription unit? Share your thoughts with us in the comments!
