As women, we’re constantly told to sign up for and attend self-defence classes to be able to protect ourselves when the situation calls for it.

For a medical intern at a Thai hospital, her self-defence skills kicked in (quite literally) and saved her from what could have been a severe assault.

The Red Skull Twitter page recently showcased CCTV footage from the Thai hospital, which displayed the medical intern using Muay Thai to fight off a drunk male nursing assistant who grabbed her to assault her. This incident took place at around midnight, when the intern was about to end her shift.

Red Skull wrote, “The young sister is an intern at a hospital in Samut Prakan. The nursing assistant locked her by the neck and tried to drag her away with the intention of committing indecent acts.”

“He pretended to volunteer to deliver her food from a nearby restaurant, where she had ordered food. But, the young sister fought back until he released her from his grip.”

As mentioned by Red Skull, Thaiger reported that the male nursing assistant had noticed the intern when she was ordering food at a restaurant near the hospital, where he was drinking with some friends.

He then volunteered to bring her packed food to her at the hospital but instead used the opportunity to assault her.

Thankfully, her Muay Thai skills, which was taught to her by her grandfather, kicked in and saved her from his grip. The intern then quickly informed other nurses of the incident and later ended her internship at the hospital.

The matter was reported to both the police and the hospital, and the male nursing assistant was dismissed from his position, especially considering he had apparent harassed another intern with an inappropriate conversation.

While this incident actually took place about a year ago, the female intern only shared the footage on June 14, 2024 (Friday), to warn others.
