The first-ever royally sponsored wedding for the LGBTQIA+ community!
Kampol and Nutthabhum’s wedding marks a historic milestone as the first royally-sponsored wedding involving members of the LGBTQIA+ community in Thai history.
Earlier, Their Majesties the King and Queen presented a bouquet and gifts to Kampol and Nutthabhum in celebration of their marriage registration. Kampol serves as a royal household official under the Royal Guard Unit Headquarters, Unit 904.
Nutthabhum expressed his gratitude in a heartfelt Facebook post, writing:
“My family and I are deeply grateful for this extraordinary royal kindness. It is the greatest honour for our family and lineage. Long live Their Majesties the King and Queen.”

Siam’s first official royally-sponsored wedding
The tradition of royally-sponsored weddings began during King Vajiravudh’s reign, with the first held on August 26, 1918, for King Prajadhipok (then a prince) and Queen Rambhai Barni at Varopat Piman Throne Hall, Bang Pa-in Palace, marking Siam’s first official royally-sponsored wedding.
The ceremony combined cultural traditions and began with the couple’s consent, followed by a royal water blessing, anointment, and the giving of gifts and funds by the King.
The couple then signed the marriage register in the King’s presence, with King Vajiravudh and other senior royals and officials serving as witnesses.
