The City Council officers in Seremban took action against the residents who had not paid their rent by removing the doors of their PPR flat units.
In an official statement, the Seremban City Council (MBS) said they had issued notice and given more time to those who had not paid their rent in Paroi Low-Cost Flat (PPR Paroi). Some of them were supposed to pay the debts in instalments since January 2023.
Some residents have unpaid rent worth RM15,000.
The authorities saw no choice but to (finally) take stern action after the tenants still failed to comply with the agreement. The Notice of Termination of Agreement via letter dated 30 November 2024 was issued, and doors were removed so that the tenants would make efforts to clear the arrears. The operation was conducted on December 12.
Seremban Mayor Datuk Masri Razali said despite the actions taken, the tenants are still allowed to live in their units.
“Two of the tenants had paid their outstanding payments totalling RM23,560 so that they could continue renting at the PPR.”
MBS also said that if the tenants are having difficulties paying their debts, the organisation is always open to help in any way they can.
“This operation will continue from time to time.”
“If you have any complaints, queries or suggestions, you can submit them via SISPAA MBS mbseremban.spab.gov.my or download the free Respon Rakyat application, or directly call 06-7654444,” MBS said in its statement.
Do you think MBS’ actions will be fruitful in “motivating” the tenants to clear their arrears?
