A few days ago, a 17-year-old living in Singapore went viral after she was mocked by some users after uploading a video on the TikTok where she thanked her father for gifting her her “first luxury bag” from the Singaporean fashion brand Charles & Keith.
In the video, Zoe showcased the black Double Handle Tote Bag she received which is priced at $79.90 (RM262) on Charles & Keith’s website, and is the most expensive bag she owns.
In a follow up video, Zoe addressed the haters where she tearily explained her humble background and talks about privilege. Both videos have since gone viral.
Despite the haters, the majority of people have offered their support for Zoe.
Following all of it, it was recently reported that Charles & Keith have since offered to have lunch with Zoe and her founder as well as give them a tour of the Charles & Keith headquarters.
In a report by The Straits Times, the company’s spokesman said, “Our heart really went out to Zoe, but we were so impressed with (how gracefully) she handled the situation, displaying wisdom far beyond her years and values that resonated with us greatly.”
“Our founders believe that our products should spark joy, empower fashion lovers and give them confidence, something we believe she presented so eloquently in her video and for which we are so grateful.”
They have also invited Zoe and her father to have lunch with its founders who, “coming from humble beginnings, were so inspired by her humility”.
Zoe told The Straits Times that said she was “very excited and grateful for the opportunity”.
We hope that this serves as a reminder for internet users to be less critical and to let people enjoy the things that make them happy.
