Malaysians are still getting used to the ‘new normal’. Not being able to hang out with family and friends in public openly as before, has taken a toll on most people. Part of this new normal is social distancing in public, which can be rather challenging for some Malaysians because we’re such a communal society. Social distancing can also tend to be lonely at times.

Sunway Pyramid, a local mall, came up with a rather creative solution for this. In a recent Facebook post, Sunway Pyramid shared how they used mannequins to create social distancing and to cure that little loneliness some may feel.

Mannequins were placed at benches found around the mall to ensure that only one person is allowed to sit. The mannequins were all dressed and positioned differently at each bench for some variety.

Some netizens thought this was a brilliant idea and asked for the mannequins to remain there even after the CMCO is lifted, as they would not have to feel ‘forever alone’ when shopping.

However, others commented that it seemed a little scary, especially since the mannequins are faceless, but it would work for social distancing.

Shoppers can also purchase the outfits that are displayed on the mannequins as they’re all from the retailers within the mall.

This is certainly a smart way of enforcing social distancing in a fun way. What other ideas do you have to make social distancing less tense?
