Recently, a 3-year-old girl died allegedly after receiving multiple injections.

In response to the news, Perak Exco for Human Resources, Health, Indian Community Affairs, and National Integration, A Sivanesan said an investigation is ongoing, and the public is advised not to come up with more speculations.

“The Perak State Health Department (JKN) is investigating the matter,” A Sivanesan said.

“How do you know it’s medical negligence?”

In a press conference yesterday (March 3), Sivanesan said the matter was shared by the deceased girl’s aunty without the parents’ permission. The aunty claimed that her niece’s death was caused by medical negligence, to which Sivanesan said,

“How do you know it’s medical negligence? The investigation is ongoing and you’re jumping the gun.”

“But I am not blaming her for saying so. Perhaps, she does not understand the laws.”

Sivanesan added that his party was contacted by the deceased’s father on Sunday (March 2), who told Sivanesan that he did not want to lodge a complaint about the matter.

Sivanesan, however, advised the father to file a complaint if he was not happy with the hospital and assured him that the hospital would be transparent with the case.

“So far, the hospital has not received any complaints.”

“He doesn’t have to worry about the hospital covering up the case because the matter is being investigated by an external party. We have nothing to hide, we will not hide anything.”

Sivanesan, who is also a lawyer, said that this is not a criminal case but a civil case.

“The State Health Department and I are very saddened by the case, and we send our condolences to the family.”
