Recently, there was viral news about a white van allegedly being used to kidnap kids for human trafficking and organ theft.
Hence, when a 9-year-old kid from Kampung Jawa claimed that he was nearly kidnapped by a white van on the way to his religious class, you can imagine how everyone went into panic mode. His mother, of course, also filed a police report.
The standard 3 student said that while he was on his way to school at about 2 pm, he stopped at a grocery store to buy snacks. He then saw a white van park near the store. The white van apparently had a Thai registered number plate.
The nine year old said that the white van tried to stop him from leaving. A masked man came out of the van to chase the him, but he got on his bike and paddled away towards a place where the van couldn’t get in. Thus, he managed to escape a potential kidnapper.
When the mother heard the story, instead of being like…
…she took her 9-year-old child’s word for it and went to the police. I mean, a 9-year-old is young and naive right?
The police took the matter seriously. They filed a report, and even went to the grocery store to check out the CCTV footage. Upon viewing the CCTV footage, the police saw no evidence of a white van, only the kid riding his bicycle.
“We have taken the victim’s statement and he had admitted that the incident had not happen, and that he made it up in fear of being scolded for being late for school on the day of the incident,” said Alzafny Ahmad in Sinar Harian.
The police advised children not to create false kidnapping stories to get out of trouble. Not only will you be found out eventually, it also causes unrest in the public.
Well, we certainly think that faking a kidnapping attempt as an excuse for being late is pretty excessive. Have you heard any excuse that’s even more crazy? Share it with us!
