In this past week, the nation has been bombarded with a rising number of positive Covid-19 cases and an astounding number of deaths per day.
The Ministry of Health (KKM) has been proactively trying to warn the public to stay home and abide by the SOPs as hospitals in the nation are increasingly burdened by a large number of cases.
On 16 May, the ministry shared a few posts on the Covid-19 deaths. The first post gives a glimpse into how officers in the Sungai Buloh Hospital’s Forensic Medicine Department do Covid-19 tests on corpses that are brought in dead (BID). The Ministry then made a worrying indication that they have observed an increase in BID cases in Klang Valley lately.
In the second post, the ministry has said that the Sungai Buloh Hospital’s Forensic Medicine Department is forced to prepare special containers to keep corpses of those who have passed away due to Covid-19. A look into the container shows that it is able to house a minimum of 16 bodies.
More than 80% of Covid-19 deaths in Malaysia are from the elderly and those who have at least one chronic illness or comorbidity. Most of the deceased were infected by their close family members.
The Ministry advised those who live with high-risk people to take extra precautions as a measure to protect themselves and their loved ones.
