A team of members and officers of the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ) arrested six suspects in connection with the kidnapping of an investment company director before the victim was locked up in Jitra, Kedah, on November 30.

Bukit Aman JSJ director, Datuk Huzir Mohamed said, all the suspects aged 24 to 58 years old are now detained and remanded by the Kedah police until December 10 for further investigation.

“Ransom money and jewellery paid to the kidnappers were confiscated by the police,” he said in a media statement.

Harian Metro reported that the director of an investment company faced an anxious moment when he was abducted by a group of men before being locked up in a homestay they rented in Jitra, on November 30.

The group also demanded a ransom of RM2 million to release him.

“The mastermind behind the abduction is believed to be a security guard who ordered the group to kidnap the man because he was not satisfied after failing to get his investment money back,” he said.

According to sources, the victim’s son then lodged a police report regarding the incident.

Huzir confirmed that in the incident at about 2 pm, the businessman and his wife were abducted by four masked men from the victim’s house in Jitra.

“Then the two victims were held by the suspect at another location in Kedah. The kidnappers demanded a ransom of RM2 million from the victim’s family.

“A total of RM250,000 has been paid by the victim’s family to the kidnappers. On 1 December 2020, the victim and his wife were released by the kidnappers after failing to get the remaining ransom,” he said.

“JSJ Bukit Aman was informed of this kidnapping case and immediately started operations to arrest all suspects from December 1 to December 4,” he added.
