Birthdays come and go every single year and depending on your income level and your social circle, you can make it a birthday week or month.
However, not all of us are as fortunate and there are some people who have never celebrated their birthdays before.
Ruenah is a 39-year-old woman from Indonesia and she went to Singapore in May 2021 to work for Anna Leyman and her family.
During her time there, she has mentioned before that she never had the chance to celebrate her birthday as her family was not well off enough to do that. So, a birthday was always just another ordinary day in the household.
Hearing this, Anna Leyman and her husband planned a surprise birthday celebration for their bibik. You can watch the video here.
On that day, the whole family pretended to forget that it was Ruenah’s birthday and Anna went to work and sent her husband along with her 2 daughters out to buy a cake.
When they managed to secure the sweet treat, all of them went back together and sang the “Happy Birthday” song while bringing in the cake.
Ruenah was surprised at first and when she got to her senses, she collapsed on the floor and started crying tears of joy. After that, the family then ordered some McDonald’s to celebrate.
The family did not go anywhere else that day but Anna has told WORLD OF BUZZ that when they go out or go for their staycations, they often bring Ruenah along as they did not want her to miss out on the moments as well.
Anna also mentioned to us that she is a working mother, hence, having Ruenah around is a big help as she looks after the kids and completes the chores.
“We are grateful for what she has helped us with. I used to be a stay-at-home-mum so I totally understand how tiring and hectic it is to be at home taking care of kids and doing house chores.”
Even though Ruenah makes mistakes (like all humans do), Anna does not hold it against her.
“After all she is alone here so why not just be nice. Everyone deserves to be loved whether they are your employee or your family.”
We’re so happy that Ruenah got to celebrate her birthday with very good employers. Before we forget, happy belated birthday, Ruenah!
