The Selangor ruler, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah just launched the largest private hospital for women and children in Malaysia, today (22nd August 2019). Avisena is dubbed the largest hospital in Malaysia because of its 133 beds and 52 specialists on call.
The president and CEO of Avisena, Datuk Dr Omar Abd Hamid said that the project began about three and a half years ago. During the opening ceremony in Shah Alam, he was quoted by The Star as saying,
“It will provide services such as obstetrics, gynaecology and paediatrics in almost all specialisations such as infertility, maternal-foetal medicine, urogynaecology, neonatology, paediatric cardiology, paediatric surgery, paediatric orthopaedic, paediatric oral health and child development.”
Avisena actually has another hospital named the Avisena Specialist Hospital. It was built 11 years ago and it offers several services like the ones mentioned below:
- Cardiology
- Heart surgery
- Neurology
- Neurosurgery
- Endocrinology
- Nephrology
- Orthopaedic surgery
Therefore, with all the facilities combined in both hospitals, they have 251 beds, 115 specialists and 1,000 jobs for staff members. Dr Omar added,
“We will add another 140 beds at the Avisena Specialist Hospital to attract medical tourists.”
On that note, in the long run, Avisena Group wants to build more hospitals in the Klang Valley and other states. Nice!
