The Selangor State Government on Tuesday (10 September) received its first ‘jetpatcher’ machine worth RM1 million procured from the UK that will be used to expedite road repair works in the state.

Taking to its official X (formerly Twitter) account, Infrasel, the concession company for state road maintenance in Selangor, shared that the Jetpacher machine was presented during the Launch Ceremony of the Jetpacher & Mega Paving Project 2024 at Dataran Pahlawan, Selangor State Secretary’s Office in Shah Alam.

Selangor’s new Jetpacher machine will provide higher-quality patchwork for roads

Among others, the event aims to introduce the new asset which is touted to play a crucial role in efforts to improve road infrastructure in the state of Selangor, particularly during the Mega Paving Program 2024.

The ceremony was officiated by Ir. Izham Hashim, the Selangor State Government Executive Councillor for Infrastructure and Agriculture, who also took to his own Facebook page to laud the Jetpacher machine.

Izham said that the new high-tech machine would lead to higher-quality patchwork on the road compared to the conventional method used in the construction and maintenance industry.

In addition, the Jetpatcher saves time and energy and can be operated in any weather condition. The Jetpacher is environmentally friendly too as it has low carbon emissions, which Izham said is in line with Selangor’s sustainable development goals.

The machine can patch potholes in just 15 minutes

According to the official Selangor State Government media Selangor Journal, the RM1 million Jetpacher machine can patch a pothole in just 15 minutes compared to over 1 hour needed using conventional methods.

Moreover, the machine allows for minimal manpower to complete repairs at each site as compared to the team of 15 required in conventional methods.

The Jetpacher machine can also patch approximately 80 potholes in a single day if used continuously.
