Bali is often our go-to holiday destination when we think of visiting Indonesia; and because it’s such a popular place, there’s probably a hundred different locations you’ve been told – by friends and Google – to visit.

While that’s great and all, it can be quite overwhelming. Well, not to worry; here are some unforgettable places and locations we’ve narrowed down for you based on your personality or the type of adventure you’re looking for:

Top secret spots around Bali to explore:

1. Jump off a cliff at Jimbaran Panorama Point

Roughly 250 metres away from Tegal Wangi Beach, this place is perfect for both adrenaline seekers as well as those looking for a relaxing time by the beach.

What to expect:

  • Venture through a thicket and follow a dirt path until you reach the coolest little cliff (which you can jump off of)
  • Explore the nearby caves
  • Set up your own campfire or barbeque and enjoy a night of food and relaxation

2. Take a swim in mother nature’s infinity pool at Angel’s Billabong

This fairly secret location is perfect for a swim and the view is to die for. Do note that Angel’s Billabong can be a dangerous place as people have been swept out to the ocean by rushing waves. Definitely a place for adventure seekers though!

What to expect:

  • Stunning emerald hues and crystalline waters
  • Green floors beneath the infinity pool that feel so soft it’s almost like walking on a carpet underwater
  • Sunbathe and lounge on the gorgeous rocks, or swim to the edge and get a view of the ocean further down (sort of like an infinity pool)

Authentic, delicious Indonesian or Balinese food to sate your appetite:

3. Take a walk around the Gianyar Night Market for affordable street food

This bustling market and local food haven is where you want to be for the taste of authentic babi guling, bakso meatball soup, chicken or lamb satay, and other Indonesian favourites! There’s also tons of snacks and knick-knacks to shop for here.

Where: Jalan Ngurah Rai, Gianyar, Bali
Opening hours: 9am to 3am daily (Closed on Sundays)

4. Indulge in Indonesian style nasi campur and chicken or duck Betutu at Warung Liku Nakula

Known as one of the best places to enjoy this Indonesian dish, the Betutu consists of a whole duck or chicken stuffed with traditional spices and wrapped in banana leaves, then enveloped in banana trunk bark before getting baked or buried in a coal fire for up to seven hours. This juicy, slow cooked, feast is a must-have!

Where: Jalan Nakula Timur, No 19A, Kuta, Bali, 08237, Indonesia
