The Sarawak government will implement Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) throughout the state for 14 days, starting tomorrow (18 January 2021) to 31 January 2021.
According to the chairperson of Sarawak State Disaster Management Committee, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, the decision was made following the spike of Covid-19 cases in Sarawak over the past several days.
The implementation of CMCO will apply to all parts of Sarawak, except Sibu which is currently under the Movement Control Order (MCO) from 16 January to 29 January 2021.
Previously on 11 January 2021, Malaysia’s prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin announced that the Sarawak state will be placed under the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO).
Uggah added that the standard operating procedures (SOPs) of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) will be announced to the public later today.
As of yesterday, Sarawak recorded a total of 69 new Covid-19 cases.
