In about 24 hours, Samantha Kathy James made headlines locally and internationally for her supposed remarks about the Black Lives Matter protests taking place in the United States that were triggered by the death of African American George Floyd.

While she stayed silent when the internet was in an uproar, the former Miss Universe Malaysia finally spoke out about the ordeal.

She recently posted to her Instagram a statement that said:

1 2 3

The post banned comments hence no user was able to leave any of their thoughts. But, perhaps this is for the better!

She made statements targeted at African Americans like, “I don’t live in America and it has nothing to do with me, but to me, it seems like the ‘whites’ won.”

And, “If you’re angry, you response in rage and anguish and that means it has power over you. They have power over you.”

The 25-year-old Chinese mixed Brazilian beauty queen continued: “To the black people: Relax, take it as a challenge, makes you stronger. You chose to be born as a ‘coloured’ person in America for a reason. To learn a certain lesson.”

Moving on for everyone

Since she released her apology, let’s leave the matter as it is. There is honestly no point dwelling and going on about it anymore.

We wish her all the best in her future endeavours. Also, remember, if someone made a mistake like hers’, it’s always better to educate than berate!
