Fearing her mother’s wrath after selling her jewellery to settle a debt, a woman made up a tale of being robbed by two men in Tandek, a small town in northern Kota Marudu district in Sabah.
The 29-year-old’s fabricated robbery story unraveled when police initiated an investigation following a report from her 49-year-old mother at 9:35 pm on Friday, April 5.

Kota Marudu OCPD Supt Simiun Lomudin stated on Saturday, April 5, that the mother had reported her daughter was kidnapped by two unknown men on a motorcycle in Tandek town.
She alleged that her daughter was injured and had lost three gold bracelets and a 916 gold chain.
Supt Simiun explained that a police team went to Kota Marudu Lotong Hospital to meet the victim and her husband.
