The supply of surgical masks in various countries is running out, as people rush out to stock up on them. In Hong Kong, people are queuing up in hordes so they can get their hands on these face masks that can help prevent them from getting infected by the Wuhan virus.

A Hong Kong netizen recently shared a bizarre incident on Facebook when his mother went out to buy face masks. The post was uploaded on February 3rd and he said that his mother had gone to a store in Hong Kong to get a supply of face masks.

She managed to queue up and buy a box of masks. She exited the store and was prepared to go home when a robber suddenly stopped her. “On the way home, she got robbed of the masks. At that time, she was holding the box of masks in one hand while the other hand was holding her purse,” the netizen said.

Surprisingly, the robber did not take her purse but instead, he grabbed her box of masks and ran off. That was rather unexpected! The netizen said that he shared this as a warning to others. He added that the advice last time to avoid getting robbed was to hide your valuables but now, one should not expose their boxes of face masks so that they won’t be targeted by criminals.

Other netizens were shocked by the incident and some of them said that they had similar experiences before. A few said that their hand sanitisers in their bags got stolen while others said that they also heard of people stealing masks.

What has become of the world these days?
