26-year-old Huang Jia Hui has been missing for over 6 months now. Her life status is still unknown at the time of writing (November 5).

Jia Hui disappeared into thin air after boarding the plane to Thailand in May 2024. In a media conference yesterday (November 4), Jia Hui’s brother revealed that she didn’t return home after 3 days in May, and he reached out to her colleagues on May 19.

Unfortunately, her colleagues knew nothing. Her brother immediately lodged a police report after realizing that things were not as simple as they seemed.

One of the colleagues, however, revealed that Jia Hui sent her a WhatsApp video, claiming that she was at the airport and waiting to board the plane to Thailand.

“My sister has never told me anything about going to Thailand. We tried contacting her through different methods, but we couldn’t reach her.”

Another victim in Cambodia?

The search for Jia Hui was widened, and her family members took to social media to look for her. On June 4, Jia Hui’s brother received a WhatsApp message from an unknown man, who claimed that his sister was with him.

However, the man on the other end made it clear about what he wanted – a ransom of RM10,000, or Jia Hui would be sold to Cambodia.

The brother requested to speak to Jia Hui but was denied. Due to the suspicious nature of the matter, none of the family members paid a single sen. Until today, the mysterious man has yet to reach out to the family members again.

Earlier, when the family lodged a police report about the matter, they were told that the police had received multiple cases of similar nature. The family had also checked with the Immigration department to see if Jia Hui left the country but unfortunately, her whereabouts remain unknown.

At the time of writing, the family has filed a missing person’s report at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Jia Hui has 2 kids with a divorced husband.

We hope Jia Hui can be reunited with her family soon!
