A post shared by Malaysian philanthropist Kuan Chee Heng, affectionately known as Uncle Kentang, has highlighted the struggles of a recovering patient who is unable to afford proper post-surgical wound care following the removal of a testicle due to a severe infection.
According to the post, the man, a former e-hailing driver, had been hospitalised for more than two months prior to undergoing surgery. Since being discharged, he has been left physically weakened and is reportedly unable to walk steadily. Adding to his challenges, he is also the sole caregiver for his 73-year-old bedridden mother.

Public holiday closure compounds dilemma
The situation became even more difficult when he required regular wound dressing after his surgery, but was unable to attend government health clinics due to the public holiday closure of Klinik Kesihatan (Health Clinic) facilities.
As his condition required continuous medical attention, it was suggested that he seek treatment at a private clinic in Nilai for wound cleaning and dressing instead of waiting for public clinics to reopen, in order to prevent further complications.
Unfortunately, the man did not have enough money to cover the medical bills at the private clinic.
Uncle Kentang steps in to cover medical bills
In response to the situation, Uncle Kentang arranged financial assistance to help cover the cost of the private medical care, ensuring the man would not miss his necessary follow-up dressing appointments.
The aid also supported his immediate medical needs during the holiday period.

“Malay, Chinese, or Indian, we’ll help you”
In the post, Uncle Kentang emphasised that assistance is given regardless of race or background, stating that those in genuine need should be supported by the community whenever possible.
“This is how our Malaysian unity works. I do not care if you are Indian, Malay, or Chinese. If you need help, and it is proven to be genuine, we will certainly help you,” Uncle Kentang said in his post.
The man is expected to require continued wound care in the coming days as he recovers while simultaneously caring for his elderly mother.
