When taking public transport, there are rules to follow not just for your safety but for others too. An image showing a man sitting someplace inappropriate on the LRT train recently went viral.

The man found comfort on the train by sitting on the control panel at the first coach of the train facing the glass.

Following the complaint lodged by the public, RapidKL issued a quick and short statement to remind commuters NOT to sit on the control panel, which is never meant for passengers to sit on. RapidKL also highlighted the safety concerns that could arise from sitting someplace inappropriate on the train.

“The train control panel is not a seat. This dangerous act can compromise your safety, and other passengers.”

The passenger who allegedly made the report left a comment in RapidKL’s post

The passenger who allegedly lodged a report with RapidKL also commented on the post, highlighting that she was the one who reported the matter to RapidKL authorities on the spot. According to her comment, it took RapidKL less than 5 minutes to deploy an officer who confronted the man for his dangerous behaviour.

The woman also said she didn’t approach the man herself out of fear for her safety, and the incident took place on the LRT Kelana Jaya line on Saturday (January 25).

“Why are you sitting here?” the officer asked the man before telling him that it was dangerous to sit there.

Fortunately, the man eventually followed the rules and descended from the control panel before taking down his luggage, which he also placed there.

We can only imagine if the train stopped suddenly and what inertia could’ve done to anyone sitting on the control panel. Regardless of where you are, do follow the rules of public transport.
