As a political party, one of the ways to win votes from a certain race is to appeal to that race and to discredit other races in the process.

Over the past general elections, for certain political parties, this is considered an “easy” way to gain votes and rally support for their cause.

However, it seems that not everyone is fond of this. PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli in a speech, recently condemned UMNO for still using racial issues as an easy way to win the election to this day.

Rafizi said that the party has to use the method because it failed to answer and solve the issues that plagued the people and that UMNO is taking the easy way out by saying that if the people vote other than UMNO and PAS, then this country will be taken over by non-Muslims.

“When taken over, they will sell all the country’s property especially belongs to Islam. Am I not Malay? If I don’t think it’s right, I will say it,” he said when he gave a talk at the Come Malaysia Tour in Rembau yesterday (October 23).

According to him, the 15th General Election (GE15) is considered to be the most difficult election to predict because people are becoming more wise.

For this reason, he said, the people need to be given the best explanation possible about their responsibility to choose a government and a leader who is expected to change the situation.

“Nowadays there is no more time to put songkok (candidates), people say they can win and for PKR to contest in Rembau, it is not an easy task.”

“But I know that voters after 2018 know that the power lies with them,” he said.

Do you agree with him?
