Many of us are familiar with scams that involve stealing credit card numbers. Now, scammers have adopted a new tactic, specifically targeting unsuspecting customers through Pos Laju.
X user @ruffleseed shared an incident on Twitter, hoping to seek clarification from Pos Malaysia and raise awareness. Posing as Pos Malaysia, these deceitful groups are currently spreading scam messages.
In the post, the user shared screenshots of messages he received, where the scam messages falsely claim his parcel couldn’t be delivered because of an incorrect address and postal code.
Recipients are urged to click the provided link to “correct” the address.
Pos Malaysia has responded to the user and issued a warning about an ongoing scam in which these groups impersonate Pos Malaysia, sending misleading SMS to the public.
People online filled the comment section, sharing their thoughts on the situation.
“My friend received the same message on 23rd of January and he fell for it, what can he do?”
“I got the same message again, but now it’s supposedly from a different courier company. Oddly enough, I did receive a parcel on the exact same day. It left me confused as to why I’d get a message when I had already received my package. The scammer used the same 61750 number.”
“Dealing with things like this makes me hesitant when I receive a legit parcel delivery notice. I end up shrugging it off, and the one time I did, my package got tossed because I ignored the message. I think Pos Malaysia should step in on this issue because it’s becoming a hassle. They should really sort it out since quite a few people have fallen for this trick.”
