If you’re a public figure, you’re likely being watched regarding what you do and say. Kedah MB, Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor recently found himself under fire after a clip showing him speaking vulgarity went viral online.
During a recent Perikatan Nasional campaign, Sanusi was heard uttering the word la*cau loudly, and it appeared that he wasn’t even trying to be discreet. His vulgarity led to a wave of laughter from the audience, but we can’t say the same for others. For Bukit Bendera’s MP, Syarleena Abdul Rashid, Sanusi’s audacity to speak vulgarity in public is disgusting.
“This is not how a leader should act.”
In a press conference on June 7, Syarleena revealed that a police report had been lodged against Sanusi, and she expressed her hope to see the police investigate the matter thoroughly.
“It is disgusting and this is not how a leader should act,” Syarleena said.
Syarleena was accompanied by Lim Guan Eng, RSN Rayer, Teresa Kok, Syahredzan Johan, and Dr Mohamed Taufiq, who is also the MP of Sungai Petani, Kedah. Dr Taufiq took the opportunity to assure the public that Sanusi’s behaviour does not represent the culture in Kedah.
“Rude is not the culture in Kedah. They’re all polite, and I noticed Sanusi has always spoken without manners and sometimes, defaming others.”
Sanusi’s vulgarity has gained the attention of Malaysian netizens and the Ministry of Youth & Sports, Hannah Yeoh, who had something to say about the matter via her tweet.
“High position does not guarantee class.”
“It’s not strange that people don’t respect Kedah’s MB when he can’t even respect others,” commented a netizen.
