Pieces of Stone Statue Fall From Gopuram of Ipoh Temple, Kills A Woman & Injures 2 Others

A woman in Ipoh met her tragic & unfortunate death yesterday (15 May) during a ritual ceremony in a temple.

The 53-year-old victim, R Manimegalai suffered a serious injury on her head after being crushed by pieces of statue that fell from the Gopuram of the temple. According to Harian Metro, the incident took place around 9:50 am yesterday at Arulmigu Visalatchi Sametha Viswanathar Sivalayam Paripalana Sabah Temple, Buntong during the Maha Kumbhabishegam Welcome Ceremony.

Manimegalai, unfortunately, passed away while receiving treatment at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) due to severe head injuries.

According to a police statement which was released by PDRM in Perak yesterday, the incident has also caused 2 minor injuries to 2 other women who happened to be at the scene.

PDRM has classified the case as sudden death and further investigation is being conducted. They also urged the public to come forward and provide relevant information to assist in the investigation. You can watch the clip of the incident below which was shared by the Facebook page Perak Press.
