Penang Lady Who Killed Pregnant Cat With Iron Rod Remanded For Four Days
Earlier today, World of Buzz reported about a lady at Penang being arrested for beating a pregnant cat to death with an iron rod.
The 51-year-old woman is now remanded for four days by the Bukit Mertajam Magistrate’s Court. The suspect is currently being held in a police lockup.
According to Astro Awani, Judge Ahzal Fariz Ahmad Khairuddin allowed the application of the Department of Veterinary Services (JPV) to remand the suspect to assist in the investigation under the Animal Welfare Act 2015.
The incident took place on a Tuesday (5 December) at 1.20 pm. A 30-year-old technician who witnessed the incident made a report after the suspect brutally hit two cats with an iron rod until one of them died. The other cat suffered an injury to the mouth.
The technician then lodged a police report as well as another report to the JPV for further action. It is believed that the suspect was angry with the two cats for defecating in front of her house.
Meanwhile, JPV Investigating Officer, Azhar Ahmad, said that further investigation found that the animal was a stray cat that usually wandered around the area.
After receiving a report regarding the incident, they went to the suspect’s house to conduct an investigation. They seized clothing and an iron believed to be used in the incident.
He said the carcass of the dead cat had been sent to the veterinary laboratory for an autopsy. As for the other cat that got injured, it is now receiving treatment for its swollen face that makes it difficult for the poor creature to eat.
