Unfortunately, Malaysia’s badminton women’s doubles dynamic duo, Pearly Tan and Thinaah Muralitharan (World ranking: 13), did not make it to the finals of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The duo was sadly defeated by China’s Chen Qing Chen and Jia Yi Fan (World ranking: 1) after giving their all in a nerve-racking match.
Malaysia managed to score 21-18 in the second round but ultimately lost to China in the first round (12-21) and in the third round (15-21).
Despite the loss, Pearly and Thinaah should be commended for their determined battle and have made Malaysia proud either way.
Pearly and Thinaah are still up for the bronze medal, should they win the bronze medal match against Japan’s Nami Matsuyama and Shida Chiharu (World ranking: 4). This match will take place tomorrow (August 3) at 9pm.
Do stay tuned for more updates.
