PDRM on the Hunt for 2 Men Who Escaped Custody at Kuching Court While on Trial for Gang Robbery

Kuching police confirmed that 2 male detainees escaped from custody at the Kuching Court around 11:30 AM on March 7 and are now on the run.

In a statement, Kuching District Police Chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Bin Abdullah said both detainees were still on trial for gang robbery under Sections 395 and 397 of the Penal Code.

Police urge anyone with info to come forward

Farhan also pointed out that anyone caught helping or hiding the escapees could be charged under Section 225(b) of the Penal Code, which comes with a prison sentence of up to 3 years and a fine.

Kuching police are asking anyone with info on the escaped detainees to reach out to the nearest police station, the Kuching IPD control centre at 082-244444, or Senior Investigating Officer ASP Chris Olsen Anak Ramlee at 013-8607572.

The case is being investigated under Sections 223 and 224 of the Penal Code, which carries a penalty of up to 2 years in prison, a fine, or both.
