This is your chance to apply now!

In a press conference yesterday (11 March), Bukit Aman Management Department director Ramli Din announced that a special recruitment session for Grade YA1 (constables) will be conducted beginning 18 March until 31 March for non-Bumiputera Malaysians. In this special intake, priority will be given to those non-Bumiputera men and women who are able to converse in their native languages.

Now, what’s special about this intake is that compared to previous PDRM intakes, applicants must have a credit in their SPM including in Bahasa Malaysia and another subject as well as another language including passes in four subjects. However, this time around, the requirements have been loosened.

For this current intake, applicants only need credit in one subject and those without a credit in Bahasa Malaysia can also submit their application. If the candidate with no credit in BM is appointed, they would have to re-sit for their SPM paper six years within an appointment and secure credit in the subject. Failure to do so will result in the termination of the officer.

Ramli revealed that the reason the requirement is loosened is that while there have been non-Bumiputera applicants in the past, due to falling short of meeting the requirements, their application was then rejected.

In terms of salary, a constable will have a basic salary of RM1,441 upon appointment. These constables will also receive special allowances amounting up to RM995 and if they’re transferred to specific departments, they will receive their necessary allowances as well.

“We are a harmonious society. With the hiring of non-Bumiputera officers, more Malaysians can take up the responsibility of taking care of the nation’s safety.”

Ramli added that an advantage of having non-Bumiputera officers is language-based for example, if there’s an Indian officer in the team, he or she can help solve the case if the victim is an Indian as well. Interested applicants can obtain more information at PDRM’s e-pengambilan website here!
