PDRM: 9yo Boy in Johor Allegedly Slashed 6yo Brother’s Neck as He Lost Him 1 Million Points on Roblox

A 6-year-old boy was slashed on his neck recently, and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) believed that it was possibly perpetrated by the victim’s elder brother.

The victim’s parents were also detained to assist with the investigation, and they are currently in a 2-day remand.

Possible online game influence, hallucination after losing 1 million points

Johor Police Chief, Datuk AB Rahaman Arsad, said initial investigations found that the victim was suspected of being slashed by his own nine-year-old brother at their home after the victim damaged his brother’s mobile phone.

The damage subsequently caused the 1 million points collected in an online game to vanish. Local media reported that the online game is Roblox.

Based on PDRM’s interrogation and investigation, the elder brother may have experienced hallucination, as if there was a voice that told him to hurt his family members.

“It is believed that the victim’s elder brother took a knife and injured the victim. Regardless, we are still investigating this matter,” AB Rahaman said in a press conference today (29 October), as reported by Berita Harian and Harian Metro.

The suspect is now under the care of the Social Welfare Department

The police have yet to record a statement from the victim as he is still undergoing treatment in the hospital. However, PDRM assured that the victim is currently in a stable condition.

Both the victim and his elder brother are now under the care of the Social Welfare Department (JKM) as they are minors.

The victim’s statement will be taken once he is confirmed stable and has received permission from the doctor. The remand order against the two 41-year-old suspects (the parents) was issued by Magistrate Nurasidah A Rahman from today until tomorrow, to enable the police to conduct further investigations under Section 326 of the Penal Code and Section 31 (1) (a) of the Child Act 2001.
