A recent post has caught the attention of netizens after a Malaysian doctor working overseas shared what he called a “proud moment” for him as a Malaysian.
In a Threads post, Dr Aiman (@aiman.zainuddin_) recalled how one of his Irish patients asked where he was from after being discharged following a heart attack.

Patient tells Malaysian doctor that IJN has the best cardiac hospital in the world
When Aiman told him he was Malaysian, the patient shared that his cardiologist had praised the National Heart Institute (IJN), saying that “Malaysia has the best cardiac hospital in the world”.
“Proud moment as a Malaysian. An Irish patient who was recently discharged after a heart attack asked me where I was from. I told him I’m from Malaysia. His cardiologist told him Malaysia has the best cardiac hospital in the world, IJN,” he wrote.
Meanwhile, IJN also joined the conversation in the comments, saying:
“This made our day! Thank you for sharing this story. It means so much to our team to hear this. Wishing the patient a smooth recovery!”

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Aiman expressed his pride in the country’s healthcare capabilities and gratitude to former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad for making IJN possible.

IJN was established following Tun M’s experience with three heart attacks
For those who may not know, IJN was established following Tun M’s own experience with heart disease. As reported by Berita Harian, he previously recalled how frightening it was to undergo heart bypass surgery after suffering a heart attack in 1989, followed by two more heart attacks in 2006.
At the time, open-heart surgery was the only treatment available, and there was a discussion over whether he should undergo the procedure in the United States (US) or Kuala Lumpur (KL). However, Dr Mahathir decided to have the surgery locally to show his confidence in Malaysian doctors.

He also recalled being impressed by a state-of-the-art heart centre he had visited in Manila, the Philippines, which inspired him to establish a similar facility in Malaysia.
“It was a matter of allocating funds for a new heart centre, and I immediately approved the establishment of one in KL. That was how IJN came about,” he explained.
