A fleeting moment captured at a traffic light in Petaling Jaya recently struck an emotional chord online, reminding many of the true meaning of hard work and gratitude.

In a post on Threads, user @shafeeqmn shared pictures of a worker resting on the roadside during the hot midday hours.

“The true meaning of working hard and hustling until you’re completely exhausted.

“I pray that he is blessed with abundant sustenance for striving so hard that he fell asleep leaning against a roadside wire,” the user wrote on his post.

Exhausted worker caught sleeping on a guy-wire during lunch hour

The post featured a worker sitting on the sidewalk near a bicycle, leaning heavily against a utility pole’s support wire with one arm hooked over it to rest his head.

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, the user, a Petaling Jaya-based property agent named Shafeeq, shared that he spotted the worker while stopped at a red light near the old International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) campus in PJ.

“I was actually waiting at a traffic light around 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM when I snapped those photos.

“Unfortunately, I didn’t get the chance to speak to him or offer him anything because the light changed, but seeing him resting there really made me feel both a sudden burst of energy to work hard on the spot and, of course, deeply grateful,” he said.

“A reminder to pause and reflect”

Shafeeq added to WORLD OF BUZZ that his daily work as a property agent involves a lot of traveling around to meet clients and view houses, but seeing the worker made him realise how physically demanding manual labor can be.

“I know my work is nowhere near as physically demanding as that guy’s for sure!”

“Just imagining how exhausted someone must be to fall asleep resting on a wire by the roadside during his lunch break… seeing that really made me pause, reflect on my own life, and simply feel grateful,” the user added.
