CCTV footage of a suspected bullying incident involving a young boy in Johor has been circulating online, showing him lying on the ground with his hands and feet bound.
At least four teenage boys are suspected of bullying the victim at approximately 12:39 AM, which included spraying a suspected flammable substance at him. The video shows three of the suspects approaching and lifting the victim while another acts as a lookout.

An appalling bullying case in Kampung Melayu Majidee
Johor Bahru South District Police Chief ACP Raub Selamat confirmed that a police report has been lodged regarding the incident, which took place along Jalan Mewah in Kampung Melayu Majidee.
In a statement, Raub said the 28-year-old complainant recalled hearing screams and noticing a light, believed to be fire, coming from a window, prompting him to check his CCTV footage.

“Upon reviewing the footage, it was found that the victim’s hands and feet were tied, and his mouth was sealed with adhesive tape. The complainant also saw what appeared to be fire being sprayed at the victim, believed to have been done using an insecticide spray,” he stated.
Preliminary investigations suggest the incident stemmed from the suspects’ unhappiness with the victim, a 13-year-old local boy working as a beverage stall assistant, after he was accused of stealing a pair of slippers belonging to one of them.
The slippers were later found on the five-foot way in front of the victim’s house.

Suspects aged 14 and 15 have since been detained
Following the report, Raub stated that the four local male suspects, aged 14 and 15, were detained.
“Three of them are not attending school. Police also seized several items to assist in the investigation, including a nylon rope, insecticide spray, and a lighter. Records show that none of the four suspects has prior criminal records,” he added.
The suspects were brought before the Johor Bahru Magistrate’s Court, where they were remanded for four days from 8 to 11 February 2026. A further remand application is being made today.

The case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code, which carries a sentence of up to two years’ jail, a fine, or both. If the threat involves causing death, serious injury, or destruction of property by fire, the jail term may be extended to seven years.
“The police advise the public against speculating or spreading unverified information that could affect the investigation and court proceedings,” Raub asserted.
