When attending a wedding, one can be certain to come across a wide range of music options, be it a live band, killer playlist, or even an orchestra for that matter. But there aren’t many occasions where the couple of honour themselves partake in musically entertaining their own guests at their wedding.
Despite that, such was the case for one young Malaysian man, who couldn’t help but show off his skills during his own wedding ceremony. In a video shared by Malaysian comedian and content creator DD to his account @dd_chronicle, the user displayed how the groom of the duo, jumped in and joined the kompang performance at his wedding.
At the beginning of the video, the groom sat by his bride on the wedding dais with a pillow on his lap. Not seconds later does he begin to tap that very pillow before asking one of his family members if he could play the instrument as well. Joining in the short performance with his other friends who also played the percussion instrument, the young man beat the kompang to his heart’s content.
“That hand really doesn’t know how to stay quiet,” added DD in a caption for the video across the screen.
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, DD revealed that the bridegroom himself was his brother, and that he is indeed skilled at playing the kompang.
Garnering a positive response online, many users said that since it was the man’s wish, he wouldn’t have felt satisfied until he could play his instrument at his own wedding. However, one user also spoke on a similar situation that happened at her own wedding, adding that her husband plays the kompang too.
“Yes, at the time my husband even walked off from the dais and left me by myself there! Hahaha, only later did he invite me down, but I felt so shy, even though it was also a lot of fun,” she light-heartedly wrote.
