Teeth should only be found in a person or animal’s mouth as finding it anywhere else is not only disturbing, it’s downright gross. With that said, finding a tooth inside your food is probably the last thing you want to see!

Australian passenger Mr Bradley Button was on a Singapore Airlines (SIA) flight SQ248 on Tuesday (26 Feb) from Wellington back to Melbourne when he found a surprise in his in-flight rice meal, reported Channel News Asia. As he was finishing his rice, he bit down on something hard with a crunch.

Spitting out his food, he found a chipped tooth that was quite sickeningly, not his.  The flight crew was quickly alerted and examined the object. “The flight attendant that attended to me was adamant that she needed to take it away for testing and was trying to tell me that it was a small rock when it was without a shadow of a doubt a tooth,” Bradley said to SBS News.

He was quickly given AUD75 (approx. RM218) voucher that can only be used on duty-free items on SIA flights.

“I threw my guts up…For the rest of the flight, I was not well, just the idea of having someone else’s body part in my food is not nice,” he added.

Despite his disgust, he said that he would trust the airline to investigate when he was contacted by the media, stating, “As I have now lodged a formal complaint with the airline, I do not wish to comment further, providing them with an opportunity to resolve this situation.”

SIA has since apologised to Mr Button for the experience.

“We expect all of our meals to meet a consistently high standard and we are disappointed in this discovery…We sincerely apologise to the customer for this negative experience and for the inconvenience this has caused,” they said. SIA has also confirmed that the meal was prepared by SIA’s caterer in Melbourne.

The tooth, appearing to be a molar, is currently being tested in Melbourne. “Once the results of the analysis are known, we will determine what the most appropriate course of action to take is,” SIA affirmed.

What a horrifying experience, we’re glad nobody got hurt! What’s the worst thing you’ve found in your food? Let us know in the comments!
