The safety and wellbeing of a child is part of their parent’s responsibility especially when they’re out and about. However, could a stranger be blamed for endangering your child?
A Taiwanese mother recently shared her experience after dining out at a hotpot restaurant where this had happened. In her post she said, “I brought my 12-year-old out for a meal in a hotpot restaurant. After we settled down, I left my son at our table and headed over to the washroom.”
She mentioned that while she was away, one of the waiters had placed their cutleries on their table. When she came out of the washroom, she saw her son laying on the floor and a very anxious waiter.
She then found out that her son has taken the metal cutleries placed on the table and started playing with it on the power point next to their table. Her son had gotten electrocuted and fell to the ground.
“How could the waiter be so careless and just leave the metal cutleries on the table while I was away?! He is only 12, how would he know,” wrote the woman.
“I quickly sent my son to the hospital and thankfully my son didn’t suffer any serious injuries! If not, I would definitely seek compensation from the shop!”
Who’s really to blame?
Following her post plenty of netizens commented. The majority of them disagreed with the woman and said that it is not the waiter’s fault.
“If you’re going to blame the restaurant, then they can also mention that they don’t know that your child would actually electrocute himself with the cutleries provided.”
“They have a hotpot restaurant not a childcare centre,” commented a netizen.
Thankfully, the kid is safe and has not suffered any major injuries. Do you think the mom was right for blaming the waiter? Let us know in the comments below.
