Having a good relationship with your in laws is definitely great as it makes married life much easier. That being said, partners should always try to cultivate a good relationship with each other.

Unfortunately for this couple, it seems like their marriage may be on thin ice.

Recently, a woman shared that her mother-in-law has given her cat away without asking her. In her post she said, “I’m so angry even thinking about it. I’ve had a cat for 9 years and he has always been an angel.”

“Occasionally, my mother-in-law would come over and stay for a few days, but she would always have something to say about my cat.”

She mentioned that her mother-in-law would always complain that her cat is dirty or would shed a lot. She would then try to ignore her as she doesn’t want to argue with her mother-in-law. When she got pregnant and her mother-in-law found out, her mother-in-law decided to come over frequently to take care of her.

Her mother-in-law started looking up on how her cat could potentially ‘harm’ her or the baby, but she would repeatedly tell her that her cat goes through constant check-ups and doesn’t head outside at all. Despite her telling her mother-in-law all that, she still believes that the cat is ‘harmful’.

Mother Angry

Unfortunately, when she was at work, she received a call from her husband saying that her mother-in-law has taken her cat and is going to give it away to one of her cousin’s kids. She revealed that her husband had given his mother a pair of spare keys prior to this.  Feeling angry, she took time off from work and went over to her cousin’s house.

“I rang the bell repeatedly and as soon as the doors opened, I ran in and saw my cat curled up in a small cage. I didn’t say anything and just took my cat away with me,” she added.

Following that, she told her husband to get the keys back from his own mother or that she would change the locks. Her husband couldn’t understand her frustration and thinks that she is overreacting, mentioning to her that her cat is still with her.

She then ended the post saying that she is still feeling angry at her mother-in-law for giving her cat away.

No matter how close you are to your family, it’s best to not touch their things without permission to avoid any unnecessary arguments. Do you think her mother-in-law was over the top for doing so?
