It’s great to see other countries enjoying our awesome Malaysian food. After all, food is one of the best ways to get to know a certain culture!
PappaRich, a local restaurant that has gained popularity internationally, has introduced many people from around the world to our delicious cuisine. We think that’s pretty cool, actually!
However, it appears that PappaRich Australia recently received a lot of criticism from Malaysians when pictures used for their latest Nasi Lemak promotion were posted on their Facebook page.
The photos, which have since been taken down, show the well-loved Malaysian dish being eaten with a pair of chopsticks. Lolwat.
Some Malaysians felt that the posts were insensitive and offensive, pointing out that just because it’s Asian food, it doesn’t mean that it should be eaten with chopsticks. Don’t be that ignorant okay!
However, it seems more Malaysians found it pretty funny and that people were blowing things out of proportion.
I mean, you’ve got to admit, it is pretty funny to see people trying to eat Nasi Lemak with chopsticks! Although it’s definitely an incorrect depiction of how the dish should be eaten, we think some people are blowing this out of proportion. One thing’s for sure though, this definitely made our day!
