Nearly three weeks ago, the submersible vessel Titan, headed to the Titanic wreckage, imploded, killing all five people on board.
The incident prompted plenty of people to call on the company to suspend operations.
The company had also been coming under scrutiny following the tragic accident as former employees, former passengers, and experts in the industry have criticised OceanGate for embarking on a potentially dangerous trip in the questionably designed submersible.
It seems that OceanGate has finally heeded the calls, as they have announced that they will be suspending all exploration and commercial operations.
The organisation posted on its website that it would no longer be sending individuals down to the wreckage of the Titanic or elsewhere.
The private company, which was founded in 2009 by Stockton Rush and Guillermo Söhnlein, used leased commercial submersibles and took customers to various places, including the shipwrecks of the Andrea Doria and the Titanic.
Last week, the presumed human remains of those lost were recovered from within the wreckage.
