One thing you need not worry about in Kuala Lumpur is the shortage of Japanese cuisine spots, but finding one that truly captures the elegance and precision of fine Japanese cuisine may be easier said than done.
In case you are not aware, iSHIN Fine Dine, located inside RIO IOI in Puchong, promises MORE than just carefully crafted plates of sushi. You can expect a full-on refined experience, one that elevates Japanese fine dining to a whole new level.

Whether you’re planning for date night or a large family gathering, iSHIN has something for everyone. Typically, guests will be seated in the main dining area, but if you want to catch the chefs in action, you can request to be seated at the sushi bar.
For those coming in large groups, you can opt to be seated in the Dining Pavilion, or, for a bit more privacy, there is also the private dining room at iSHIN.

Valet service is also available right outside iSHIN, making your arrival hassle-free. It’s also best to make a reservation before your visit to avoid disappointment.
Without further ado, let’s dig in!
There is a plethora of items to choose from, which you can browse on iSHIN’s official website, but these are among the standout dishes, and let’s start with the house speciality!
1. Duck liver (RM118)
One of iShin’s house specialities includes the pan-fried duck liver, which is served with Shimeiji mushrooms on a bed of fresh lettuce. The liver is lightly seared to preserve its creamy, melt-in-your-mouth texture. You can get this as an appetiser or even a standalone dish.

2. Duck Liver with King Crab (RM150)
Surprisingly, you can find a few duck dishes under the house speciality section alone!
If you’re not a fan of mushrooms, do try the pan-fried duck liver paired with sweet, meaty chunks of Hokkaido King Crab. The fresh and plump crab meat paired with the rich and tender chunk of duck liver is truly a combo we never knew we needed.

3. Unagi Yanagawa (RM75)
A harmonious blend of sweet, savoury, and earthy notes, featuring fresh eel simmered in an aromatic broth. This warm, nourishing dish offers a deep sense of comfort—especially on a cool day.

4. Tekka Don (RM62)
For Sashimi lovers, iSHIN is also the place to be.
If you’re a fan of fresh Tuna or Salmon, be sure to get the Tekka Don and the Shake Don. Both are served with fresh wasabi and pickled ginger slices alongside a bowl of Miso soup.

5. Tendon (RM35)
Lightly battered and perfectly fried tempura seafood and vegetables, served atop steamed rice and drizzled with sauce. This Tendon is served with Miso Soup and pickled vegetables on the side.

6. Beef Shogayaki Set (RM42)
If you’re looking for a quick yet delicious and satisfying lunch, we recommend trying the Beef Shogayaki Set. The fresh beef slices are stir-fried with soy sauce, served with rice, Miso Soup, and fruit slices as the dessert to complete your meal.

7. Ohyu Dengaku Misoyaki (RM38)
The new dish is not yet listed on iSHIN’s online menu, but it consists of grilled halibut that is beautifully glazed with black savoury miso. You’ll be in for a savoury-sweet, smoky treat with every bite of this buttery, flaky fish.

It’s earthy and full-bodied, but not overwhelming, and will surely leave a lasting impression.

8. Teppanyaki Lamb Course (RM78)
Another standout offering from iSHIN, the sliced lamb cooked to medium-rare perfection (or well-done as per preference) is not just tender but, oh so succulent.
The hot iron griddle also gives the meat a caramelised crust.

9. Strawberry parfait (RM22) and Matcha Ogura (RM18)
No good meal is complete without desserts. For a perfectly sweet ending, we highly recommend the Strawberry Parfait served in a tall glass topped with fresh strawberries and whipped cream.

We’re amazed at how beautifully balanced the sweetness is, and the first bite gives a cool, smooth sensation with a gentle burst of strawberry flavour.
And yes, how could we not give matcha a try when it was Japanese fine dining? It’s served in a small bowl, but this classic Japanese dessert beautifully melds the earthy bitterness of green tea (matcha) with the gentle sweetness and creamy texture of azuki red beans.
iSHIN also serves a variety of alcoholic beverages, including beer, sake, soju, red & white wine, whiskey, champagne and even sparkling wine. 🍷🍾 If you want a truly Japanese experience, make sure to give their Japanese sakes and whiskeys a try! 🍺🍶
