A 3-year-old Malaysian boy fell ill due to the heartbreak of missing his ‘adoptive’ parents, only to recover remarkably after a surprise reunion.

The boy’s mother, Shida Abdullah, took to Facebook to share how her son, Adam, developed a severe fever after expressing how much he missed his caregivers, whom he affectionately calls ‘Amma’ and ‘Appa.’

“Yesterday, he suddenly developed a fever because he missed his Amma and Appa too much,” Shida wrote.

“At first, I thought he was simply asking for them, so I ignored it. However, after two hours, his body was burning up. I immediately took him to a clinic.”

She added that the situation was distressing: “He even went to sleep sobbing and calling for them. Eventually, Amma and Appa couldn’t take it any longer and came to visit Adam, as they were worried his condition would worsen.”

The boy had been pining for his caregivers because they had been away attending to personal obligations. Upon hearing of his deteriorating health, Amma and Appa, who live an hour away, braved heavy rain on their motorcycle to meet the boy at a restaurant.

A remarkable recovery

Thankfully, Shida explained that as soon as Adam saw his Amma and Appa, his fever subsided, and he returned to his usual active self.

“If they had not met with Adam, his fever would have got worse. Today, Adam is back to being active and playing as usual,” she added.
