In a series of tweets that went viral earlier this week, a Malaysian netizen named Wina shared a heartwarming encounter with her Grab driver.
According to her tweets, she had to request a Grab from a bus station to get home on Sunday evening (26th May) at 6pm. After being picked up, Wina and the Grab driver were casually chatting until they passed by a Ramadan bazaar.
A thread of appreciation
So, yesterday i took a grab from bus station to go back to my house around 6pm. Me and the driver were casually conversing in the car when i saw bazaar along the way ;
Me : You tak gi bazaar ke?
Him : Eh, you want to go? Jom la i bawak pic.twitter.com/5NnxfYYkyx— Nas (@aqlhsyzwna) May 27, 2019
Speaking to mStar, she said,
“When we passed by a bazaar, I just asked him if he has ever gone to a Ramadan bazaar, and he told me he has never been to one before. Then shortly after that, he pulled over to the side of the road and parked.”
According to Wina, he brought her to the bazaar so she could get food as it was getting closer to iftar, when fasting Muslims break their fast shortly after sunset. What’s more, he insisted on paying for everything!
He insisted on paying for all the food that i bought. I did not spend any single cent! And when he dropped me at the house, I did offer him to eat with my family together but he refused, although he jokingly said he wanted to eat together beforehand ? pic.twitter.com/PNPq2Fjt8n

In another tweet, Wina said,
“Upon arrival, he gave all the food that he bought at the bazaar to me. The fact that a Chinese guy was willing to park the car and walk quite a distance with me just to get me some food for ‘berbuka’ touched me. Heck, he even ‘belanja’ me all the food some more!”
After being dropped off, Wina invited her Grab driver to have dinner with her family, but he politely declined as he had to attend to other passengers.
Thank you Ahwei! I wish you nothing but an abundance of peace & prosperity. Those who reside around Batu Pahat, rate him 5 stars if you get him! He can negotiate & talk very well, i tell ya ? ((reuploading this one bcs some said the former tweet wasn’t proper)) pic.twitter.com/Ix1fBb8S1V

Grab has also been going around Malaysia visiting Ramadan bazaars under #LebihEratLebihBerkat, where drivers are being treated to enjoy some of the best Ramadan food for free as a token of appreciation for all their hard work. We definitely think this Grab driver, in particular, deserves this treat!
