In his Facebook post that has since been removed, a Malaysian man expressed what he thought of the door signage, and said that there is no need for Chinese language given that we are in Malaysia.

The man shared the picture of a cafe door, questioning the absence of the Malay language for the push & pull sign.

He argued that businesses in Malaysia should prioritise the use of Malay and English and said that he found it inappropriate that only the National language was omitted from the door signage.

“Although I like this café, there’s no need to use Chinese and English for the signage. Since we’re in Malaysia, using Malay and English is enough.”

According to Sin Chew, before the post was taken down, it received mixed reactions from social media users. Some agreed with the man, saying there was no need for Chinese language on signage in Malaysia.

On the other hand, others felt there was nothing wrong with including additional languages, noting that it helps non-locals, particularly visitors from China and Western countries.
