Receiving your hard-earned monthly salary is supposed to be a moment of relief, but for one young worker, payday turned into a complete nightmare within just one hour!
In a viral Threads posts by user _itsnorayu, the netizen recounted how her sibling’s employee entered the office in tears after checking her bank account.

Having just received her RM1,700 salary at 9:00 AM, the employee went to pay her bills at 10:00 AM, only to find a heartbreaking account balance of just 30 cents left!
A mysterious ATM withdrawal
Puzzled as to how money could vanish when the physical ATM card was supposedly in the owner’s purse, the user, who has a professional background in banking, guided the victim step-by-step.
Upon checking the transaction history, they found an ATM cash withdrawal of RM1,700 executed right after the salary dropped.
“Based on my banking experience, if the card is with you but money is withdrawn via ATM, someone else is using the actual card,” the netizen explained. “When she checked her purse properly, the card inside wasn’t even her salary card, it was a completely different bank card!”

Toxic family member caught after police threat
When asked who knew her PIN, the worker revealed her mother in her hometown knew it. Initially, the mother denied taking it, telling her daughter to ‘accept it as a test’ and assume the money was lost.
Knowing only someone close could pull this off, the Threads user advised the employee to bluff that a police report was lodged, warning that bank CCTV footage would identify the culprit at the ATM.
Fearing arrest, the mother finally confessed, claiming the worker’s sibling actually withdrew the cash.

Compelled to return RM700 due to harassment
Although the family eventually transferred the full RM1,700 back after being pressed, the ordeal didn’t end there. The mother unleashed a barrage of abusive calls and messages, cursing the victim for threatening police action against family.
Overwhelmed by stress and guilt, the distressed worker ultimately transferred RM700 back to the mother.
“It’s heartbreaking because real life actually has parents who exploit their children’s kindness like this,” the netizen lamented, advising all Malaysians to never share ATM PINs or keep vulnerable birthdate PIN codes.
