Although many sporting events and competitions are back on, the risk of the Covid-19 virus is still at large. Recently Paris Saint Germain’s (PSG) Neymar has tested positive for Covid-19 following a holiday to Ibiza, as reported by ESPN.
Neymar received the test results on Wednesday morning, is currently in good health, and following the necessary protocols. Two other PSG players were also identified to be tested positive for Covid-19. Angel Di Maria and Leandro Paredes were both visiting the same island as Neymar was.
“Three Paris St-Germain players have confirmed positive Sars CoV2 tests and are subject to the appropriate health protocol,” the club said in a statement.
According to ESPN, the Ligue 1 protocol for the coronavirus is strict. If a club has four positive cases in their squad, their game is postponed.
The club was due to face Lens in their French 2020/21 top-flight opening match just six days after their loss to Bayern in the Champions League final. The game will now be played after the international break, giving them 12 days to prepare for the beginning of the campaign.
