A nasi kandar restaurant in Jalan Kampung Benggali, Butterworth has been closed temporarily after two of its employees tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday (16 November).
This comes after one of their customers who was confirmed positive for Covid-19 came to the restaurant on 4 November.
Jamal Mohamed Nasi Kandar released a statement provided by the Ministry of Health (MOH) that seven employees has since undergone Covid-19 screenings.
“Yesterday, two of the seven employees who underwent screening and quarantine on 13 November were confirmed positive by the MOH, believed to be infected by a customer,” it said.
“Furthermore, our premises is temporarily closed for close contact screening and disinfection until a date to be announced later.”
Meanwhile, the statement clarified that the closure only involved branches in Butterworth and did not involve other branches.
“We have done our best in our SOPs by following all the guidelines set by the Ministry of Health Malaysia. The safety of customers and employees is our priority,” the statement said.
“This is the first time we have been tested in this situation and we will continue to help and cooperate with the “Frontliners” of the MOH to curb this pandemic.”
