The government has implemented the Movement Control Order effective tomorrow. The order states that all mass gatherings and also non-essential offices will be closed. Only essential government offices, as well as grocery stores and restaurants, will remain open. Although it may seem like an inconvenience, in terms of public safety it’s probably the best move now.

Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi stated that all pasar malam will have to be closed and restaurants can only do takeaway orders henceforth.

The minister also reminded netizens to not panic buy as there are still enough supplies for now. As we know, some Malaysians have taken to hoarding essentials since yesterday. This move is not only unnecessary, but it’s also selfish as people who actually need those supplies are being deprived of their essentials.

This is a good move by the Ministry to avoid mass gatherings. If you were to order takeaway, how bout bringing your own containers to reduce your carbon footprint?
