A police traffic officer earned the praise of Malaysians recently after photos of his kind act of helping an elderly woman cross the street safely in Jelebu, Negeri Sembilan went viral.

The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) officer, Constable Mohd Danish Khairuddin of the Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department (JSPT) was manning the traffic in and around Kuala Klawang town yesterday (5 August) when he noticed the elderly woman with a trolley was struggling to cross the street.

Going beyond the call of duty so that the woman can safely cross the busy street, Mohd Danish halted the traffic on the road temporarily and accompanied the woman across the road. In one of the photos, the woman can be seen giving Mohd Danish the thumbs up as she crossed the street with her trolley.

The photos have since been shared by PDRM on its official Facebook page with the apt caption of “Polis dan masyarakat berpisah tiada” which roughly translated to English as “the police and society are inseparable”.

In the post’s comments section, Malaysians praised the actions of the Constable and were touched by his kindness as although the assistance was quite simple, it quite possibly made the elderly woman’s day.
